| Abstract | Modal parameters of vibrating systems are primordial in updating models, health monitoring and control of structures. The modal parameter identification procedure from time data can be performed by the wavelet transform of signals. Consider stay cables of a bridge excited by random and no measured vibrations. The wavelet transform is applied to accelerometer signals and the analyzed wavelet is obtained by minimization of the entropy of wavelet coefficients. The modal parameters of stay cables are then identified from the modulus and phase of the wavelet transform. Two indicators for health monitoring of stay cables are presented: the Scruton number and the cable tension. Experimental results are presented. |
