| Abstract | For more than a decade, a film showing the spalling behavior and failure of a concrete Ibeam has been shown on numerous occasions at conferences and workshops (two times during the previous spalling workshop). The film was taken during a test series on I-beams with thin webs, 80 mm, performed at SP more than 14 years ago. The original report from the tests is available in Swedish only. This article contains a description of the experiments performed as part of the project together with extra unpublished data from an experiment performed on a beam produced at the same time, 5 years after the original experiment. Significantly, while extreme spalling was observed in the original experiments, during this experiment the tested beam did not spall. |
