| Abstract | The objective of this study was to describe the response of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Paiaguás to different doses of nitrogen fertilizer in the second year of production. The experiment was conducted in an experimental area of the State University of Mato Grosso, located in the municipality of Tangará da Serra, in randomized blocks consisting of six treatments (doses of 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 kg N/ha) and four replicates in 9-m2 plots each. The doses were divided into four fractions applied after each cutting. A significant effect (P<0.05) was observed for the variables plant height, number of tillers/m2, percentage of dry matter, green mass/ha, dry mass/ha, leaf dry mass, and stem dry mass/ha. The results show that, at a dose of 250 kg N/ha and climate conditions favoring forage growth, N exerts a positive effect on the number of tillers/m2, dry mass/ha, leaf dry mass, and stem dry mass /ha of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Paiaguás. |
