| Abstract | The paper undertakes the problem of measuring sustainable development (SD) and presents some of the attainments of Polish scholars in this field. The authors discuss the current state of studies into sustainable development in the Polish literature. They also identify selected cognitive, predictive and decision-related challenges generated by SD as regards its measurement. The authors examine the problems associated with the measurement of SD strategies implemented in Poland. Five possible ways of identifying variables for a system of SD coefficients are proposed. Special attention is paid to the approach based on the criterion of optimization of such a system of coefficients. |
