Abstract	Chronic cough is one of the most frequent and troublesome symptoms accompanying advanced lung cancer. This review presents the mechanisms of this symptom and methods for its assessment. In patients with advanced lung cancer cough therapy is typically symptomatic and mainly based on anti-tussive agents. Additionally, cough management includes rehabilitation, respiratory exercises and physiotherapy. New anti-tussive drugs are warranted since currently available treatment is effective in only 30% of patients.
