| Abstract | espanolEn 1889, Matias de Velasco y Rojas, que habia traducido en prosa sonetos de Shakespeare, publico la que, por lo visto, es la primera traduccion al espanol de un soneto shakespeariano en la forma del soneto. Despues, y durante mas de treinta anos siguieron traduciendose en esta forma sonetos de Shakespeare. Sin embargo, los primeros traductores al espanol no se dedicaron a trasladar el ciclo completo ni la mayor parte de los Sonetos: sus versiones poeticas se publicaron dispersas en revistas literarias y colecciones de poesia extranjera espanolas y latinoamericanas, lo que ha dificultado la tarea de documentarlas. El presente articulo se propone aportar informacion de primeras traducciones en verso castellano de los sonetos de Shakespeare que no figuran en las bibliografias pertinentes, analizar su primera publicacion, los traductores, sus caracteristicas e importancia, y anadir nuevos datos a la informacion existente EnglishIn 1889 Matias de Velasco y Rojas, who had translated Shakespearean sonnets in prose, published what appears to be the first rendering in Spanish of a Shakespearean sonnet in sonnet form. Further verse translations of Shakespeare’s sonnets followed for over thirty years. However, the early translators into Spanish did not focus their efforts on translating the complete cycle or a majority of the sonnets. Instead, their poetic versions were published in literary journals and collections of foreign poetry in Spain and Latin America, thus complicating the task of documenting them. This article sets out to provide evidence of new early verse translations of Shakespearean sonnets into Spanish that have never been listed in the relevant bibliographies and discuss their first publication, the translators, their characteristics and importance, as well as to add some new facts to the extant information. |
