| Abstract | The end of the Spanish civil war confirmed dicta torship as a way of government, from that moment on, the country experienced a long period of international isolation (caused mainly by the closing policy carried out by Franco.) However, Spain kept a series of relationships with other countries, especially the USA. These relationships were disclosed, with the death of the dictator in 1975, as of vital importance when legitimating the democratic process developed during the period known as Transition to Democracy. This article shows the first results of our study. We gathered information regarding the most important stages of the relationship between these two countries –focused mainly on the Transition– period during which the USA were revealed as the “friend” that witnessed the changes experienced by the Spanish society. |
