| Abstract | Objective: To evaluate the importance of early physiotherapy in the treatment of congenital muscular torticollis. Methodology: Computerized search in the Pubmed and PEDro databases to identify randomized controlled trials and case studies that evaluate the effects of early physiotherapy in congenital muscular torticollis. Results: In this review were included 9 articles involving 344 babies which were later subject to a qualitative evaluation, based on scale “Critical Appraisal Skills Progranme” (CASP) Conclusion: Physiotherapy plays a fundamental role in the treatment of CMT proving to be effective in reducing head tilt, increasing ROM and decreasing thickness of the affected sternocleidomastoid muscle tumor mass. Physiotherapy it is also important to prevent other complications like plagiocephaly. |
