| Abstract | RIKEN Masaki Moriguchi A curve skeleton of a 3D object is a one-dimensional structure that concisely represents its geometry and topology. Curve skeletons are used in various applications, such as character animation and shape matching, and many extraction methods have been proposed. One of the simplest methods to extract curve skeletons from surface meshes is based on edge contraction, but conditions on edge contraction to preserve the homotopy type are unknown. In this research, we provide conditions for homotopy-preserving edge contraction. |
