| Abstract | For the first time, bacteria fossils were identified inside cupper-cobalt sedimentary ore bodies of the upper Proterozoic "Mines series" of Shaba (Democratic Respublic of Congo). This sries is constituted of sequences going from the millimetre to decimetre (Microsequences) and decimetre to metre and to the decametre (Type sequences) and of the decametre to several hundreds of metres (Megasequences). From the bottom to the top of a type-sequence, on enconters facies termed "Silicodetritics, laminates and biolitics or stromatolitics". The cyanobacteria constructions of stromatolites that one encouters at the pic of the sequence are sometime pyrite mineralised. These are descriptions concerning the bacteria fossils observed in the stromatolitics rock of T6 sequence pic at Kolwezi that is presented in this paper. These provide some new elements concernig the sulfuration of cupper and cobalt in the sedimentary basin. By reducing the marine sulfates, these bacteria provide biogenic sulfar that is necessary for sulfuration of metals in the course of the young diagenesis. In this way, they participated in the primary formation of cupper and cobalt deposit in Shaba and in Zambia. |
