Abstract	Beef cattle is the main employment and income source in all sectors of the regional economy in the town of Rolim de Moura RO Brazil, involving farmers, meat-processing companies and trade. In spite of such promising perspectives, the beef cattle sector is still rife with lack of organization, without any investigation on parameters that may trigger its development. Local conditions on beef cattle by SWOT analysis are provided in search of answers to the above mentioned issues. The most salient factors revealed by this technical instrument are consequently discussed. Bibliography research and the case study method were applied so that results consistent with the treatment of responses to the object investigated could be obtained. Recommendations for the improvement and the development of the beef cattle sector are eventually supplied.
