| Abstract | In France, media education is officially carried on by the Ministry of Education for twenty-five years. It does not benefit, however, from a complete recognition, since teachers dedicate themselves to it only if they wish, and do not have formal obligation to implement it. This domain links, in an original manner, the partners of mass media and researchers and takes an international perspective. Media education offered by Clemi is centred on information and education for citizenship and, since its origin, takes an approach based on critical distance and on support for production of media messages. This approach is today absolutely justified by the use of digital media and web 2.0. As part of the European policy in this domain, media education should know a broader recognition in next years. |
