| Abstract | Singing, Vocal Education, Elementary School, Curricular Development The main objective of this educational project is to promote the discovery of the singing art at early ages, as well as its inclusion within the artistic mainstream education system in Portugal, and in accordance to the current Portuguese legislation. The research here undertaken explores the lack of a Curriculum of Singing for the Basic Music Education in Portugal. This Educational Project (EP) is divided in two parts: the first part, shows the present situation of the singing education within the Portuguese Music Schools. After a bibliographical review of the specialized literature on teaching of singing at the early ages, a theoretical framework is presented which supports the empirical research here undertaken; within the second part, an empirical research (EP) explores the accuracy of a new singing approach in order to establish a curriculum of singing for the 1 st , 2 nd and 3o Level of Basic Music Education in Portugal. |
