| Abstract | This work describes the design and the implementation of a DTG gyroscope. The general aspects about its development, the main difficulties involved, as well as some performance results are discussed. Through the study of a tuned gyroscope operation theory and its errors model, one can analyze the DTG fundamentals and evaluate its main error sources. An analysis of the constructive requirements, the machining methods and materials employed in the DTG implementation are presented. Afterwords, it is done a description of the main characterization tests, that are carried out in order to establish the tuning conditions and to calculate the error model compensation coefficients. Results of these tests are discussed, and the estimation of the random drift, which is the main parameter that qualifies the gyroscope, is presented. The DTG prototype was able to provide a reasonable performance, which satisfies the requisites of several applications. |
