Perhaps the biggest impact on gaining traction of any mental health program is the policing culture – a culture based on stoicism, that is the endurance of pain or hardship without a display of feelings and without complaint, separating yourself from feelings and emotions to get the job done. This culture breeds distrust, cynicism and skepticism – all honed as a survival mechanism, physically, emotionally and psychologically.
