| Abstract | Scientific research is facing today important computational challenges, as huge amount of data need processing from worldwide distributed communities. Hence data management facilities and computational infrastructures are playing an increasingly important role in science and the use of computing grids as collaborative environment for science is taking up. In the last few years Europe has pioneered the field of e-Infrastructures, by building and operating a distributed grid environment based on the gLite middleware. The EGEE [1] grid provides the framework to connect researchers worldwide, by enabling them to share resources on a large scale, with a very stable service quality. |
