| Abstract | The effect of the isolates SRGM2, SRGM3 and SRGM of Azospirillum spp. on the growth and development of Guinea grass plants (Panicum maximum Jacq cv. Tanzania) was evaluated in the Experimental Station Motilonia of Corpoica, municipality Agustin Codazzi (Cesar, Colombia). The inoculation was performed by imbibition of seeds and at planting time in pots under greenhouse conditions. It was used simple inoculation of isolates of Azospirillum sp. and co-inoculation with a phosphate solubilizing strain of Enterobacter aglomerans (UV1), isolated from cotton soils of the department of Cesar. The studied variables were plant germination, fresh and dry leaf weight, fresh and dry root weight, phosphorus and protein contents. The results showed that single and combined inoculation promoted the germination of seeds of Guinea grass (P ≤ 0.05) compared to treatment without inoculation (absolute control); and although there were no significant differences (P ≤ 0.05) in the other studied variables, it was found increases of up to 26.80% in crude protein and 45.67% in leaf dry matter compared with plants treated with 100% of nitrogen. It was observed that the isolate SRGM2 of Azospirillum co-inoculated with Enterobacter aglomerans UV1 recorded the highest values in plant growth of Guinea grass, so it was considered as a promising rhizobacteria for biofertilization of this grass used to feed cattle in the colombian caribbean coast. |
