| Abstract | The disease known as "Mal do Coito" or "Durina" covers a wide geographic distribution. Although eradicated in some countries, still affects animals in various regions of the planet. Caused by a protozoan of the genus Trypanosoma, Trypanosoma equiperdum species, primarily affects horses, donkeys and mules and is responsible for outbreaks of animal deaths around the world. Transmission occurs directly at the time of copulation between infected animals. Has difficult diagnosis and treatment, prevention is still the best way to prevent the disease in the squad. Prophylaxis is made by isolating the contaminated areas and breeders who have the disease. This study aimed to make an approach about the epidemiological, clinical and pathological aspects of trypanosomiasis "Mal do Coito." |
