| Abstract | Fresh weight and length and thickness of fruits and seeds of Q. candicans , Q. crassipes , Q. germana , Q. greggii , Q. peduncularis , Q. polymorpha and Q. xalapensis were studied. The data were analyzed using a variance test (ANOVA). Significant differences were detected among the seven species (P < 0.05) in fresh weight and length and thickness of seeds, as well as length and thickness of the fruits, but no differences were found in fresh weight of the fruits. Quercus crassipes and Q. xalapensis show the least variation in weight and size of fruits and seeds. The average weight (g) of the fruits and seeds in the different species was 3.78 and 1.67 in Q. candicans ; 2.29 and 1.48 in Q. crassipes, 12.88 and 9.75 in Q. germana; 1.90 and 1.51 in Q. greggii; 1.12 and 0.88 in Q. peduncularis; 1.67 and 1.16 in Q. polymorpha; and 1.81 and 0.90 in Q. xalapensis. |
