| Abstract | The productivity of five pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan (L.)Millsp.) genotypes Anã, Red, Roraima, White of Minas and Puerto Rico, were assessed in a cutting trial carried out at Porto Velho, Rondônia, from November 1996 to December 1997. In total biomass, the genotypes Red and White of Minas were the most productives, while for the useful forage fraction the genotype Red produced higher dry matter yields. Pigeonpea genotypes did not differ (P>0.05), for both fractions (rough and useful), in crude protein (CP) contents, however, there were significant differences among CP yields. The higher yields were obtained from genotypes Red and White of Minas. The performance of genotypes Red and White of Minas was considered very satisfactory and suggest the viability of pigeon pea culture for forage production in Porto Velho, Rondônia. |
