| Abstract | The purpose of this research is to analyse the role of financial institutions generating the demographic dividend: the positive effect that population age structure change could have on some of the main economic growth determinants. In particular, this research investigates whether the development of these institutions is important in order to materialize the incentives to both save and invest in human capital, which are generated by both demographic transition and age structure change. The conclusions obtained will be useful for the development of specific policies directed to take advantage of the potential demographic dividend and with it achieve larger economic growth and development. |
