| Abstract | The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of four soil fertility conditions in the sward structure of Tanzania-grass pastures. The experimental design was a split-plot in randomized complete blocks, with three replications. Four soil fertility conditions were studied as follows: (a) CPK1: application of 30 kg ha-1 year-1 of phosphorus and 50 kg ha-1 year-1 of potassium and liming to increase the base saturation to 50 %; (b) CPK2: application of 60 kg ha-1 year-1 of phosphorus and 100 kg ha-1 year-1 of potassium and increase the base saturation to 70 %; (c) N1: 150 kg ha-1 year-1 of nitrogen; d) N2: 300 kg ha-1 year-1 of nitrogen. In the Summer growing season, it was observed a linear increment in the plant height and total LAI of Tanzania-grass. In the Fall growing season, it was observed the maximum plant height (76 cm at 27 days), with a LAI increment rate 2.5 times smaller than that observed in the Summer. |
