| Abstract | El Teatro Guimera de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, elprimer coliseo de Canarias, inaugurado el 26 de enerode 1851, un ano despues de la apertura del Teatro Realde Madrid, ha conocido diversas transformaciones ensu estructura arquitectonica, pues aquel primer edificocomenzado por Manuel Oraa en 1847, muy pronto sevio afectado por intervenciones que intentaronadaptarlo a las nuevas exigencias escenicaspromovidas, en general, por los empresarios ydirectores foraneos con amplia experiencia teatral. Lasintervenciones de Armino y las de Antonio Pintor,fueron decisivas para lograr la disposicion actual, enforma de herradura. Guimera Theatre in Santa cruz de Tenerife is the firstcoliseum in the Canary Islands. It was inaugurated onthe 26th January 1851, a year after the opening of theRoyal Theatre in Madrid. It has experienced sometransformations on its architectural structure, since theformer building, started by Manuel Oraa in 1847, wassoon affected by interventions in an attempt to try toadapt it to new stage requirements which had beenpromoted by foreign highly experienced theatricalproducers and directors. The interventions by Arminoand Antonio Pintor were vital to reach the currenthorseshoe arrangement. |
