| Abstract | students in the future. The book presents a rationale for the careful consideration of the many intertwining issues related to gender, ethnicity, and social class, and it does so in a fashion that challenges readers to think critically. Particularly helpful is Gordon Riches' and Pamela Dawson's model for an in-depth analysis of processes and outcomes related to death and bereavement. The model is based on the identification of elements such as self-definition as an individual, membership in a particular group, socially prescribed sentiments, and social contexts. I look forward to using this paradigm to enhance my students' learning. |
