| Abstract | Measuring organizations' readiness for collaboration and accordingly knowledge management has been a topic for years. With the emergence of Web 2.0 and its new possibilities for more effective collaboration, it has become increasingly relevant to determine the maturity of an organization in regard to its ability to run a groupware successfully and enable its workforce to perform collaboration efficiently. This paper provides a rigorous literature review on collaboration maturity models. Conducting literature review rigorously means to provide evidence and traceability in your literature search, selection, and evaluation. This paper comprehensively conducts and describes the literature review process of a state-of-the-art analysis for collaboration maturity models by means of the five phases for reviewing literature: definition of review scope, conceptualization of topic, literature search, literature analysis and synthesis, and research agenda. Finally, this study has lead to 55 maturity models in the area of collaboration and knowledge management and e-learning. Three categories are identified: scientific, practitioner-oriented (scientific), and practitioner-based. Essentially, many maturity models are derived from the per se standard CMM, but, however, only a few are well enough documented to be further evaluated or applied in practice. |
