| Abstract | This paper presents an analysis of the rockfalls that take place in a scarp and they are detected using a LiDAR. The pilot study area, which is located at the Puigcercos cliff (Pallars Jussa), has been scanned since 2007, with these scans we managed to detect 4072 rockfalls. In addition with these detected rockfalls we obtained the relationship between magnitude and frequency. It has allowed to compare with other inventoried movements. Also part of the study is focused on analyzing the rockfalls and the deformation of the areas where there have been large rockfalls before, with the aim of detecting the behavior of the cliff after that they take place. From the intensity data and the RGB data of a photograph we tried to extract lithologies. With these we found which of these are more likely to cause rockfalls. Finally, it has tried to find a seasonal pattern that allows to deduce if the weather has any contribution that accelerate the rockfalls. All these results have been obtained from LIDAR data and have been made with the aims to improve the knowledge about the studied scarp and to explore all the information that LiDAR data provide us. |
