| Abstract | This paper discusses the scope and effectiveness of vegetables oils in machining of Mild Steel (SAE 1018) using Minimum Quantity Lubrication technique. Vegetable oils like Canola oil, Sunflower oil and soybean oil which are easily available in Indian market. Test was conducted at two different cutting speed using different vegetable oils in turning on lathe machine. This study based on the effects of different vegetable oils on tool life and Surface finish of work piece. The MQL fluid was applied into the cutting zone in form of mist. Lubrication is necessary for the cutting operation to avoid the surface damage and less tool wear. This study reveals that canola oil gave better surface finish and long tool life compared to soybean oil and sunflower oil. Canola oil is good alternative because it is biodegradable and gives minimum effect to the machine operators' health and the environment. |
