Abstract	Improper disposal of solid waste generate environmental, human health and economy impacts. This problem can be accentuated by the absence of bulky waste collection and temporary disposal sites. The objective of this research was to evaluate the impacts caused by solid waste irregular disposal in São Carlos’s northern region, a São Paulo’s state municipality. The instruments developed were an observed situation checklist, a characterization form, the impact assessment and classification method and the general solid waste estimation. In 76 points of this area, about 81% of this disposal came from non-construction waste. The estimated volume was 525 m 3 at approximately 5km 2 , proportional to 0.6 m 3 per inhabitant. In order to avoid changing the sanitary conditions and the landscape in the investigated place, the proposed actions were informative signs, social and environmental campaigns and cleaning efforts associated with digital technology to control these events.
