| Abstract | The present study aimed to evaluate the accumulated litte r of wo environments, a forest in the process of restoration after bauxite mining and a reference ecosystem (forest remnants in middle stage of succession), and to verify the influence of environmental variables on the accumulation of litter in both fores ts. Thirty plots of 2.0 x 2.0 m were allocated to each of the two forests. In the center of each plot collected is all organic material not decomposed contained in samples of 0.50 x 0.50 m to later obtain the dry mass.
