| Abstract | A sample o f 49 primary s c h o o l s , s t r a t i f i e d and randomly s e l e c t e d were v i s i t e d f o r data c o l l e c t e d , in Nakuru D i s t r i c t . The in format ion required was r e l a t e d t o teaching r e s o u r c e s , t e a c h e r s ' q u a l i t y , teaching methods, type o f admin i s t ra t i on , and pup i l s academic background p r i o r t o s i t t i n g f o r the C.P.E. Examination. 19 33 Form One pup i l s from 32 o f the 49 primary schoo l s in fo'ur randomly s e l e c t e d secondary s c h o o l s , were a l s o interviewed f o r t h e i r s o c i o e conomic background. These two se ts o f in format ion were r e l a t e d t o the s c h o o l s ' 19 81 C.P.E. Examination performance. When the informat ion was analysed , i t ind i ca ted that q u a l i t y o f teachers s choo l administrat ion, use o f appropriate teaching methods and p u p i l s ' academic background, had a very s i g n i f i c a n t i n f l u e n c e to s c h o o l s ' performance in C.P.E.Examination. The use o f teaching resources ( a i d s ) , school-community r e l a t i o n s and soc i o e conomic background o f pup i l s did not seem t o ' h a v e a s i g n i f i c a n t and d i r e c t i n f l u e n c e o f s c h o o l s ' performance on the Examination.
