Abstract	Along the first half of the eighteenth century the house became in Navarra the mirror of the social and economical power gained by its owners, which gave way to the renovation of the domestic architecture phenomenon. This is the context where we can situate the Borda de Maya family, from Baztán. At the seventeenth century, thanks to their business and a well meditated marriage politic, their members gained not only a big economic material heritage, that they organized through a mayorazgo, but also a high social position that included a seat in the General Court of the Kingdom. Since 1702, based on the trace of one of the most important architects of the moment, Juan Antonio de San Juan, they renovated their family house, changing its aspect into the seigPILAR ANDUEZA UNANUA 388 [36] 116 Loperena falleció el 10 de diciembre de 1766 tras haber otorgado testamento el 24 de noviembre de 1764 donde nombró coheredero de sus bienes –también de sus deudas–, así como administrador de su testamentaría a su cuñado Pedro Fermín Goyeneche, quien a su vez era uno de sus principales acreedores: Ibídem, Manuel Armendáriz, 1764, 24-XI. A few years later, in 1728, they finally could change it into a cabo de armería palace, the symbol of the old traditional noblesse, mercy that they obtained from the King, thanks to their contribution for the reconstruction of Roncesvalles.
