| Abstract | Present work develops a metrology characterization about an analog to digital data converter based on sigma delta technology in high resolution, all this applied to high accuracy electromagnetic measurements. Using a ADC it was developed an AC & DC voltage measurement system, which was evaluated based on its performance parameters such as dynamic range linearity, signal-to-noise ratio, effective resolution, short term stability, etc. During the metrological characterization, processing signal algorithms were applied in order to compare the ADC?s performance against better metrological systems. Main performance parameter were studied using the ADC directly as AC & DC voltage meter; for both cases, the developed meter shows high resolution (better than 21-bit), high signal-to-noise ratio (better than -120 dB) and high stability (better than 1 ?V/V in 24 hrs). In order to develop this comparison it was necessary suggest digital signal processing techniques, like filtering algorithms. A result comparative and a possible uses of the ADC in electric metrology are given |
