| Abstract | With the development of advanced processor and machine architectures that need optimizing compilers to be eeciently programmed in high level languages, the need for source level debuggers that can handle optimized programs is rising. The diiculty in debugging optimized code arises from the problem to establish mappings between source and object code locations and between source and object code variables. If we are not willing to restrict the optimizer's job, the debugger must analyze the eeects of the optimizations done to establish these mappings. We will deduce some requirements this analysis should meet and present an algorithm that uses data ow analysis techniques to solve the data value problem for globally optimized code. We also give rst experiences with an implementation. |
