| Abstract | The changes of the Coleopterofauna in a Pinus pinaster forest, Zamora province (Spain), have been determined after a wild fire in June 1996. Sampling was carried out from April to October 1997 in the burnt area and in a nearby unburnt control pine forest. Pitfall traps containing three different types of attracting bait were placed in each area at different distances from the firebreak. Greater abundance was recorded for the liver baits, followed by the beer and water, respectively, in both the burnt and control pine forests. Results indicated that the Coleopterofauna colonizing the burnt forest were more oportunistic and a greater specific richness were observed in the burnt area such as Histeridae, Silphidae, Carabidae and Scarabaeidae. |
