Abstract | In 1998, Wu and Tang showed that the average quality loss of product can be decreased by shifting the manufacturing target from the design value. They assume that the quality characteristic obeys a uniform or normal distribution and adopt a quadratic asymmetric quality loss function. However, they did not consider the condition of using a linear asymmetric quality loss function in the model. In this paper, we present a modified Wu and Tang model with a uniform or triangular distribution under an asymmetric quality loss function for determining the optimum manufacturing target. |
