| Abstract | The research project was part of a larger line that aims to rebuild the administration of Criminal Justice in Buenos Aires during the times of the Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata. The temporary limitation of the project was given by the time of existence of the Segunda Audiencia of Buenos Aires, and the material one, by the files that were processed before this body of the Indian government. Hearings in the Overseas Kingdoms were central to justice administration; in criminal matters, they knew the issues by appeal or by inquiry. They had a body of lawyers who occupied the positions of hearers and prosecutors, and they were an exception to legal justice. Its actions should be framed in a governance model of division of functions as its competence was not exclusively judicial. The research method applied was the legal-historical one, being this a discipline that is part of history. Mainly, normative and doctrinal primary sources, and their own judicial files were used. One of the most relevant conclusions that could be reached was that it was possible to demonstrate, through the files, the trust deposited by the inhabitants of the Viceroyalty at the Audiencia when demanding justice. The protection of natives and the zeal that was generally carried out by the official at the moment of administering justice were taken from the files. |
