| Abstract | The Dengue is considered one of the most important diseases in tropical areas around the world, and an important public health problem. Preferential entry point for the person with suspected dengue is the Primary Health Care. However, all health services must be prepared to host the demand for assistance of suspected cases of dengue. Thus, making possible the timely care and quality to the patient, providing condition to prevent the occurrence of deaths. The aim of this study was to analyze the adequacy of primary health care services located in the neighborhoods of the Planning Area 33 in the city of Rio de Janeiro to care for patients with suspected dengue. The study has two methodological directions: one was a descriptive ecological study of the reported cases of dengue in residents of 29 neighborhoods in the north zone of count of Rio de Janeiro and the other was based on a normative evaluation targeted to structure and process of units of primary health care of the region. The area has a high population density, slum areas lacking joint actions and intense urban violence. The residents suffer from AP 33 in front of the introduction of a new serotype DENV-4 and faced epidemic rates of disease. In however, the improvement of health indicators was possible before so many barriers. The implementation of hydration poles enabled significant decrease in the number of hospital admissions and deaths. Despite the significant increase in the number of health facilities in the area in recent years, 72% of residents were treated at the secondary and tertiary health care network, and half of this amount dispersed to 104 neighborhoods of the municipality of Rio de Janeiro. In this sense, taking into account the capacity of the care units, their protocols and work processes according to managers, health professionals and our observation protocol, the adequacy of primary care health units of the neighborhoods was partially adequate. Although efforts are being made to improve the quality of health services in the area, there is still the unequal distribution of SUS, driving the population to seek different options of access to health care, according the principals and guidelines of SUS. |
