Abstract	2-Chloromethyl-3-methylquinazolin-4(3H)-one 1 is converted to the azide 4 which easily undergoes cyclisation to give 2-quinazolinonyl imidazolidinones 5. The azides, however, yield 2,3-dimethylquinazolin-4(3H)-one 6 andlor 2-aryl- aminomethyl-3-methylquinazolin-4(3H)-one 2 under thermal, microwave and in acidic medium.
