| Abstract | The object of this work is the Telecare, recognised by the law as an essential compensation of compulsory provision to groups such as elderly people. Telecare is a basic support in elderly people lives due to the fact that it allows them to stay in their usual place of residence, improve their quality of life, make them feel independent and be a part of their usual environment. The aim is to do a critical and bibliographical analysis of the Telecare Service. Therefore, this work is divided in two well differentiated parts: on the one hand, a characteristic study of elderly people, and on the other hand, a field study where the evolution of Telecare from 2005 to 2012 is analysed. Within this empirical work the interviews made to the main responsibles and to the users of the Red Cross Telecare Service (the first Spanish Institution lending the design, management and the assessment of this service) are included. |
