| Abstract | This descriptive, comparative and diachronic research joins the sociological stream orientated to the study of the social background of primary education teachers and their position in social structure. The subject of this research is the analysis of the factors wich constitute the social background of the students, future teachers, of the Superior Centre for Teacher Formation at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in Spain, as well as their academic motivation profile, their degree of satisfaction with their performance in the Centre and, finally, their academic and professional perspectives.
