Un til Au gust 2000, about 147 ar ti cles con cern ing telepathology have been pub lished in the lit er a ture. In re cent years, telepathology has been used in Scan di na via for re mote di ag no sis of frozen sec tion and his tol ogy, and in Eu rope, Ja pan, and USA for his tol ogy and cy tol ogy. Two ma jor meth ods of telepathology are avail able: static and dy namic. The for mer is achieved by trans mis sion of pre se lected im ages and the lat ter by real-time trans mis sion of con tin u ous im ages. Though eco nomic, the static telepathology suf fers from more per sonal bias in se lect ing rep re sen ta tive fields. The dy namic one, on the con trary, is ca pa ble of pro vid ing the whole pic ture of a case but is more time-consuming and ex pen sive.
