| Abstract | The aim of this work is the characterization of the conjugated conduction-convection heat transfer problem in transient state. The considered geometry is a flat plate which is heated by a fixed duration heat pulse and cooled using an air flow. The air flow is considered on the front face of the plate. Two cases are studied : the first one corresponds to an air flow over the front face of the plate and the second case is concerned with a heat flux on the back face of the plate. The comparison between the calculated temperatures and the measured ones displayed a good agreement between numerical and experimental procedures. The parametric study allowed obtaining a correlation of the transient convective heat transfer coefficient as a function of the steady state coefficient, which depends on the flow velocity and the coordinate of the considered point on the plate, multiplied by a function of time and the plate properties. The obtained results should be very useful for the enhancement of the heat transfer coefficient measurement using the pulsed photothermal method.
