| Abstract | Abstract This study evaluated the use of the Vane Kindergarten Test with Puerto Rican children in New York City. S s were 225 Puerto Rican youngsters between 4 1 2 and 6 years of age enrolled in Head Start Centers in the boroughs of the Bronx and Manhattan. Comparisons between Vane's standardization sample and the Puerto Rican group yielded no significant differences in full scale scores. On the Vocabulary subtest, Puerto Rican subjects earned lower mean scores; on the non-verbal subtests, they scored higher than the normative group. A question is raised regarding inclusion in normative test data of subgroup samples of Puerto Rican subjects tested with English language material. |
