Abstract	this article intends to show how volunteer work discourses can be seen as discourses of the labor sphere and what are the social implications related. It also argues on the polemic confrontation between institutional and non institutional voices in the volunteer work discourses and contributes to the discussions about power relations in dominant discursive formations. This study inscribes itself in the range of French Discourse Analyses, specially the one represented by Maingueneau's recent works (2005, 2006).
