Abstract	Although intervention research conducted in the cultural-historical Activity Theory (CHAT) approach is booming in global social research, its presence in Polish educational research is still limited. Bearing this situation in mind, we have set two aims in our article. Our first intention is to present the concept of activity as a unit of analysis in the research which we conducted in the youth club. The second intention is to demonstrate the methodology of intervention research carried in the Cultural – historical Activity Theory approach and its theoretical framework. As we describe the process of changing the social system of youth activities, we shall also present the key components of intervention research, such as: identifying and solving contradictions in activity systems, working with the object and knotworking.
