Abstract	Introduction: The Macular Degeneration Age-Related (DMRE) is one of the leading causes of legal blindness in people over the age of 50, in the Review Systematics of the literature showed that high blood pressure plays an important role in the development of the DMRE, further found that there are other risk factors such as: Sun exposure, race, smoking and diseases as Diabetes Mellitus among others. Methodology: Study of cases and controls, where the sample is 200 cases and 200 controls, with an α 95%, a β 80% in the population served in the service of Angiography Digital SAS of the Society of Eye Surgery in Bogota, to search for the probable association between High Blood Pressure and the DMRE; through a profiling of the studied variables followed by a bivariate analysis and logistic regression. Results: Of 400 patients in the sample, the average age of the sample was 66.9 years (S.D 9, 2 years). Found 251 women (62.8%) of the total sample. Patients with antecedent High Blood Pressure and Diabetes Mellitus staff, show risk of DMRE 2,315 times and 4,626 times respectively on patients without High Blood Pressure or Diabetes Mellitus, with a confidence interval that validates the significance. On the other hand vascular occlusion despite having a significant OR of 13,549, presents a very wide confidence interval (3, 023-60, 724) not validating this significance. Conclusions: In the sample analyzed, it was determined that there is a significant relationship between High Blood Pressure and the DMRE. No relationship was found between the variables: Hypothyroidism, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Chronic Renal Failure, statins and Asa (p> 0.05).
