| Abstract | The article presents a research proposal to determine and analyze the didactic and methodological strategies implemented by the teachers at the Fundación Colegio Bilingüe John Henry Newman in the teaching process of English as foreign language, the use of didactic material and other tools used in the classroom, according to the needs of the student population with ages between six and eight years. To accomplish this objective, the investigation was oriented by the following question: Which are the teaching strategies for teaching English language implemented by teachers in the Fundación Colegio Bilingüe John Henry Newman for students in first and second grade? Likewise, the investigation process demonstrates that the curriculum considerate a communication model with a constructivist approach, where the teacher manages to break away from the traditional teaches. According to the results that were shown, was realized a methodological design comprising the investigation method based on the study Estrategias didácticas para la enseñanza del inglés en primero y segundo de primaria 5 case of descriptiveanalytic type; the choice of different instruments for the data collection, the semi-structured interviews and observations. According to the analysis of observations, interviews and the relation between the theoretical framework, arise as a result five categories related to communicative skills, teaching strategies and methodological activities, material and teaching tools, teacher training and the student profile. In the study can appreciate the incorporation of very significant teaching strategies to the development of the four language skills (oral and written comprehension and production) in each grade investigated, encouraging the use of English inside and outside of the classroom. For the final part, it is arising from this work the following implications: At first would be the teacher’s work according to the students’ previous knowledge as a starting point in its instructional-education design, whereby all students would take effectively the different activities of English learning. The second implication refers to the teaching strategies developed in the classroom by English teachers. |
