| Abstract | The NAS Parallel Benchmarks ar e a collection of simplified computational fluid dynamic (CFD) applications. We have r ewritten and parallelized Appbt—a CFD application that uses the solution of a block-tridiagonal system—to run efficiently on shar ed-memory multipr ocessors. We tested our algorithm thr ough simulation on the W isconsin Wind Tunnel. We tested our code on two major types of shar ed-memory multipr ocessors, one using a dirNNB directory protocol and one using the Scalable Coherent Interface cache-coher ence pr otocol. We simulated the code with these pr otocols for machines ranging from 1 to 128 pr ocessors. We found that our parallelization methodology worked well for up to 128 pr ocessors, and will apparently scale to even lar ger systems. Further study is r equired to confirm this hypothesis, however . |
