| Abstract | Symathetic nervous system in pathogenesis and treatment of arterial hypertension. Increased sympathetic nervous system activity is a key player in the pathogenesis and mainte nance of arterial hypertension. Exact quantifi cation of sympathetic nerve activity is reserved to scientific research. Clinical characteristics associated with increased sympathetic activity include obesity, obstructive sleep apnea, acute and chronic anxiety, and sinus tachycardia.
