This work shows an economic and statistic model for the lethal crimes rates in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in 2013. The criminality is a growing social problem in the Brazilian states, with many implications, also, economic. In addition to crimes with financial motivation, that result in costs of recover and prevention for the population and the government, the criminalization of citizens and the more than ten thousands of murders makes lost potential human resources. The conjecture that economic conditions and the criminality are correlated is the base of the theory of economic crime, that search the empiric causes of criminality and its relation with others socioeconomic variables for actualize the combat against the problem. In this sense, this study sought a better understanding of crime in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, so that, observing the events that make up, it can be faced more efficiently, reducing costs, fostering a future economy and thus increasing social well-being . Through an economic model that uses the available data, it sought to define empirically as variables are relate, although this model presents limitations in its formulation. In addition, through theoretical analysis, the results obtained were better achieve. It found that there is a spatial relation between the criminal rates of the municipalities, mainly in the Metropolitan Region, and areas more prone to their occurrence. There is still a positive relation with education and inversion with the percentage of young men, contrary to criminological assumptions. |
